Our Girl is Walking Again!

It has been an amazing couple of days. Yesterday Jen tried on some temporary prosthetics to begin the process of standing and then slowly walking again. But in a typical display of strength, courage and determination she began to walk on only her second day! She has amazed the rehab staff at Zale Lipshey with her excelerated improvement and continues to be an enormous insperation. It seems like every day I am in disbelief at how far she has come.

It was great to have her home on Sunday for what was the best fathers day one could ever imagine. Mum also flew home to Oz tonight. She has been a source of great help and support to us and we cant wait to come and visit next year. We love you very much.

Babe, you are truely incredible. Seeing you smile from ear to ear in the face of such a challenge is humbling. I am so proud of you and as we take this journey I find myself feeling something that I did not think possible, a feeling of falling deeper and deeper in love with you.

Love, Hubby.

Sunday

What a Day!

We had a wonderful day..I am sure Jen and Nick will write tomorrow but wanted to say a few words. Randy and I met Nick at the hospital and were able to get Jen ready to travel by 1:30. Randy and I followed Jen and Nick and were met at their home by Marie and Matthew. Marie had prepared a wonderful meal and Matthew had helped her set the table.

We exchanged Father's Day gifts and Nick said a toast to Jen's first day home since March 23! It was lots or fun and at the same time tiring for Jenny. Nick and she left for the hospital around 6:30 so she would meet curfew (:>} and Marie, Randy and I sat and talked for a bit more before she leaves for Australia on Tuesday. Big Matthew had spent the weekend with Christy and her father's family in Arkansas but was meeting Jen at Zale around 7 P.M. before driving back to Abilene. All in all, the day was a wonderful one and one for which we are all so grateful to have had together.

We are thinking of all of you and hoping your day was also special. I will write again soon...this will be another big week and I will keep you up to date on the new developments. Love to all the Dads out there and all of the families who love them. Love, Marilyn.

Saturday

Finally Going Home...For a Moment

It is a rainy Saturday morning and I have recruited a 9 year old secretary who's name is Matthew. We just grabbed breakfast and we wanted to share our good news. Doctors have approved time for me to go home for a few hours on Sunday for fathers day. My dad is in town (aka Rando)and we are going to eat dinner at the house. As I have not seen my house in months I am very exited to be home with my hubby and family. I hope every one has a great fathers day. Love, Jen.

Friday

Another Week Gone By

Hi everyone...it is Friday evening and Randy and I are just getting ready for bed. It is so good to have him here with me for the weekend. Jen had a busy day..even got the molds for her leg prothesis started and worked hard in PT and OT. She has been given permission to go to their home for Father's day and is looking forward to that first outing. Marie and I were given lessons today and hope we don't flunk when put to the test! Little Matthew and Nick are both staying in the room tonight which will be fun..it is a small suite and Matthew will have his own bed and TV so will feel like a slumber party.

Jenny had several visitors today as well as many phone calls and cards. Her days are usually busy until around 3 but following that, her time is more her own. We went to the gift shop in Zale where she picked out some things and had fun doing something "normal". My eyes are closing as I type so will sign off for now..just wanted to say hi to all of our loyal friends who check in daily. Again and again we tell each other that this support is like air and water and keeps us going hour after hour...we love you all so much.

Will write again soon. Love, Marilyn.

Thursday

Things Going Well At Zale

Hi everyone.I have once again recruited a new secretary,my lovely husband. We are about to eat breakfast as we update this blog. Currently my days consist of 3 hours of both physical and occupational therapy. This has been challenging yet very rewarding. Some cool things I have learned include being able to feed myself, brush my teeth and with assistance take a shower.
The therapists that I work with are amazing and my progress has been faster than expected. So much so that today I will be molded for prosthetics on my legs. The completion of this process will take at least a month.

I miss everyone and I cant wait to be out of hospital to resume spending time with the people I love. I could not have gotten this far without the support and love of everyone. Love, Jen.
